Yet another reason not to light up: Cigarette smoking quadruples the chances that you'll develop age-related muscular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in people over 55. Never taking that first puff would be even better for your vision, since former smokers are also at increased risk, a large Australian study has found....

I keep hearing about the degenerative diseases brought about through smoking but I know a few people who are puffing away and in good health!

I don't smoke, but it's hard to discourage anyone to stop smoking nowadays.
