If we want to look after our heart and blood vessels we should eat less salt, shouldn’t we? Cutting your salt intake will help lower your blood pressure there’s not much evidence that it will help you live longer or reduce your risk of having a heart attack.
Stick to government guidelines on limiting salt intake to six grams a day. The evidence that cutting salt intake can reduce blood pressure levels is pretty unequivocal. Salt isn’t just a factor in high blood pressure too much could also raise the risk of osteoporosis by increasing the loss of calcium from bones and probably raises the risk of stomach cancer.
